Naomi R Fogel

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Endocrinology)

I am a clinical pediatric endocrinologist with a focus on the care of children with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. I work as part of a multidisciplinary team that aims to provide comprehensive care to support families living with diabetes. I also care for children with thyroid disorders, growth disorders, PCOS and disorders of puberty.

Bessey E Geevarghese

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Infectious Diseases)

I am interested in caring for children with any pediatric infectious disease. I primarily cover inpatient and outpatient infectious disease at Central Dupage Hospital in Winfield, IL. My clinical interests include bone & joint infections, Kawasaki disease, prolonged and recurrent fevers, lymphadenitis, skin and soft tissue infections. I work with the medical providers at CDH to implement appropriate clinical guidelines, develop hospital specific antibiotic stewardship, as well as various quality improvement projects to enhance safety and effectiveness of treatment provided to our patients.

Nicolas F Porta

Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Neonatology)

I have intense curiosity and passion regarding infants with respiratory failure and pulmonary hypertension. Through clinical and research efforts, I have been studying the patterns of disease progression in infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) and congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), and the impact of pulmonary vascular disease in these patients. More specific interests include the interactions between respiratory and circulatory dysfunction in these infants. Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Emergency Medicine)

I am a pediatric emergency physician and health services researcher with interests in improving care delivery at the intersection of the emergency department, office, and hospital and optimizing healthcare decisions made by parents and providers. Nicholas R Zessis

Instructor of Pediatrics (Hospital-Based Medicine)

Dr. Zessis is a hospital pediatrician at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. His academic and clinical interests include Hospital Medicine on the medical floor and intensive care unit, medical education, quality improvement, and advocacy. He is a member of the Feinberg Academy of Medical Educators and is currently enrolled in the Medical Education Certificate Program. 

Manu Jain

Professor of Medicine (Pulmonary and Critical Care) and Pediatrics

My primary research interest is in lung repair after acute injury with a focus on TGF-beta mediated signaling. We have identified mitochondrial generated reactive oxygen species as important in TGF-bête mediated gene expression and are working to identify novel therapeutic targets in this pathway. We are also interested in modulating the ubiquitin-proteosomal pathway as a therapeutic target for tissue fibrosis. I have a clinical translational interest in Cystic Fibrosis.
