Dr. Heffernan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, the Director of the Voices of Child Health in Communities, and the Scientific Director for Quantitative Science at the Smith Child Health Catalyst at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. She oversees the Voices of Child Health in Communities Parent Panel Survey, a biannual survey that assesses parent and family perspectives on issues related to child, adolescent, and family health and well-being. Dr. Loretta Li is a pediatric oncologist with clinical expertise in hematologic malignancies, including leukemia and lymphoma. She has a particular interest in caring for patients with high-risk leukemia including those with relapsed or refractory disease. She leads a translational leukemia research laboratory that uses a variety of approaches to identify new therapeutic targets, develop preclinical models of disease, and test novel therapeutic agents in cell lines and mouse models. Leslie Mataya, MD is a pediatric intensivist with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital. She received her medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 2016, then completed her residency training in Pediatrics at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital in 2019. As a pediatric electrophysiologist, I care for pediatric and adult congenital patients with all types of arrhythmias. In addition, I am passionate about exercise medicine, exercise testing and cardiac rehabilitation. I created and direct the inpatient and outpatient cardiac rehabilitation programs and the exercise medicine programs for the Lurie Children's Heart Center. My primary research interest is in health outcomes following pediatric liver transplantation and acute liver failure. I lead a research group that studies all aspects of outcomes from survival to health related quality of life (HRQOL). Our research group has extensive experience examining HRQOL and cognitive outcomes in pediatric liver transplant survivors, long term complications related to immunosuppressive medications and the causes and treatment of acute liver failure.
