Program Mission & Aims
Mission: To provide a training environment that promotes excellence, curiosity, critical thinking, ownership, collaboration, and develops pediatricians with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to be local and national leaders for child health across a spectrum of careers.
Specific Aims: To achieve this mission, the Pediatric Residency Program strives to:
- Recruit high-achieving pediatric residents with diverse characteristics that will lead to success in clinical care, scholarship, advocacy, and leadership.
- Promote acquisition of bedside, foundational and cutting-edge medical knowledge and skills in the care of infants, children, and adolescents.
- Train residents who are great teachers and leaders and who practice in a way that influences others to elevate clinical excellence, duty, communication, equity, evidence-base, quality, safety, curiosity, and ownership.
- Train residents prepared to become skilled pediatric generalists, subspecialists, investigators, innovators, educators, and health leaders.
- Provide a scholarly environment to explore and lead advances in child health, from the basic and translational sciences, to clinical and health services research, health policy and advocacy, to medical education.
