Irini N Kolaitis

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Hospital-Based Medicine)

Dr. Kolaitis serves as the Associate Division Head of Hospital-Based Medicine.  She is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She participates actively in hospital initiatives pertaining to throughput, capacity, in-patient care models, and patient safety. Her additional research interests include clinical medical ethics, with an emphasis on conflict resolution, error disclosure, and informed consent.

Gregory B Waypa

Research Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Neonatology)

Gregory B. Waypa, Ph.D. received his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering Sciences from the University of California, San Diego in 1991. He then enrolled as a graduate student at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York, where, under Fred L. Minnear, Ph.D., he studied increased pulmonary vascular permeability associated acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and explored the possibility of using cAMP-enhancing agents as a possible therapy for the disease. Candace N Mannarino

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Cardiology)

Dr. Candace Mannarino is an attending physician in the divisions of cardiology (cardiac intensive care) and pediatric critical care medicine. She is the Director of the Pediatric Critical Care Clerkship. She is also the Faculty Lead of the Cardiac Care Unit Simulation Program at Lurie Children’s. Her clinical and research focus is within the realms of medical education, simulation, and quality improvement.

Elizabeth A Sokol

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Hematology, Oncology, and Stem Cell Transplantation)

I received my medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Medicine in 2011, prior to completing my Pediatrics residency at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital. I completed a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in 2017 and a post-doctoral fellowship Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacogenomics in 2018 at the University of Chicago. I subsequently became a member of the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology division at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago in 2018.

Priyamvada Tatachar

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Neurology and Epilepsy)

I am a pediatric neurologist with a clinical focus on neurological disorders in infants and children specifically epilepsy. My interests are in the evaluation of children with drug resistant epilepsy for epilepsy surgery and treatment of children with tuberous sclerosis. i believe in universal accessibility to care, and global collaborations in healthcare delivery systems

Cynthia K Rigsby

Professor of Radiology (Pediatric Radiology) and Pediatrics

My primary clinical interest lies in pediatric CT and MR imaging, with a specialty expertise and research focus in pediatric cardiovascular imaging.

Janine Y Khan

Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Neonatology)

My primary research interest involves neonatal neuroprotection. Neuroprotection with the application of therapeutic hypothermia in term and near-term infants with perinatal brain injury/neonatal encephalopathy, and neonatal stroke. I am the Site PI for Preterm Epo Neuroprotection Trial (PENUT Trial). A Multi-Center, Randomized Placebo-Controlled Phase III 940-subject Trial of Erythropoietin for the Neuroprotection of Extremely Low Gestational Age Neonates (ELGANs); 2013 - 2018.

Donald M Lloyd-Jones

Professor of Preventive Medicine (Epidemiology), Medicine (Cardiology) and Pediatrics

Dr. Lloyd-Jones attended Swarthmore College for his BA (Major in History), Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons for his MD, and Harvard School of Public Health for his Master of Science (Epidemiology). He was a resident, chief resident and cardiology fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital, and junior faculty at Harvard Medical School. In 2004, he moved to Northwestern and in 2009, he became Chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine. Marcelo R Malakooti

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Critical Care)

As Associate Chief Medical Officer of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and Medical Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, my research is focused on generating innovative solutions to improve patient outcomes and quality of care, while fostering dynamic strategies to minimize waste, optimize resources, and streamline patient throughput and access to care. Xiao-Di Tan

Research Professor of Pediatrics (Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition) and Pathology

The research focus in my research group is placed on three areas including (1) cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying maintenance of intestinal barrier homeostasis in inflammation, (2) mucosal immunology and pathogenesis of intestinal injury such as necrotizing enterocolitis and inflammatory bowel disease, and (3) pathogenesis of fatty liver associated liver inflammation and fibrosis.
